Use of artificial intelligence (AI), including large language models such as ChatGPT and technologies utilizing machine learning, deep learning, logical reasoning, or any other equivalent technologies, in any aspect of the manuscript, including research, writing, or review, must be disclosed. This applies to all content types and formats, including all text, audio, video, data, and images.
Authors must disclose AI use in (a) any submitted content, (b) any related work connected to the submitted content, and (c) any key sources cited.
To ensure transparent declaration of AI, authors should:
AI technologies will not be accepted as an author(s). ACC only recognizes humans as being capable of authorship since they must be accountable for the work.
Authors and contributors are responsible for any content produced or influenced by AI technology, including its accuracy, suitable attribution of sources, and absence of plagiarism. If AI-generated content (text, images, multimedia) is included, publication rights or permissions must be included in the methods section or figure legends.
The ACC will consider whether the use and disclosure of AI are reasonable and consistent with its publication policies. Content may be rejected or subject to post-publication changes based on an inadequate declaration or the particular circumstances of AI use.
Reviewers and editors must assess whether AI technologies have been disclosed appropriately in submitted manuscripts and consider the implications of AI use on research integrity, originality, and adherence to ethical standards.
Reviewers and editors may utilize AI tools to assist the review process, including text analysis, plagiarism detection, and data verification. They must ensure that AI use does not compromise review integrity and remain accountable for all manuscript acceptance or rejection decisions.
Reviewers and editors should acknowledge the use of AI technologies in their review process when relevant. They must maintain documentation of the AI tools used and their contributions to the evaluation process to ensure transparency and accountability. Additionally, they should preserve the confidentiality of the peer review process by not inputting unpublished manuscripts into publicly available AI tools.
